Keys to the Kingdom - Are they for the Kids?

Keys post spoke to my heart on issues we face now. Emailed it to several colleagues involved in this process. My opinion is we keep making keys until they work for the kids and the keys from yesterday are not fitting the kids of today. Loved the Dewey slide at the end of your latest slide share post!

Hi! I'm Jodi from Southern Indiana. I have been teaching off and on for over 20 years. I started out teaching 6th grade. Then I taught Jr. high Language arts for a year, which was the worst year of my life, because I love younger kids. I then switched to kindergarten and finally landed in 3rd grade for 4 years. I took a few years off to raise a family and when I came back, the only job I could get was in special education. I have been a resource teacher for the last 5 years and I love ...

Yes, I believe Dalton ... September 6 post

I am wondering if anyone has shown or is considering showing Dalton's vid with their students? I want to share it with our building staff who are not angela webites, but we have a unique group of students, many of whom don't believe in themselves. We are working hard every day to show them that we do believe in them ... I am thinking Dalton could help us show them the power of believing. He just left me with that "wow" feeling. What do you think, fellow colleagues?

I am in my 33rd year of teaching language arts (started teaching speech) at the same middle school in Clinton, Iowa. I taught one semester at high school but was then "promoted" to eighth grade and have been happy there ever since. My middle school years were challenging as are anyone's, but I especially remember the teachers I had who went the extra mile and who really cared about us. I think that's why I find myself at home with eighth graders.

My husband retired this summer. ...

I am proud of my 20-year career in education, especially the years I spent as a classroom teacher. I am currently working as an independent consultant dedicated and committed to helping DOE’s, schools, districts and teachers reach their goals in literacy and literacy education.

I feel fortunate for the opportunities and extensive experiences I have had working with educators. I spend my time teaching, researching, writing, speaking, and conducting seminars across the country in the areas ...
